What was meant to be a fine motor skill activity where children and bubs would use their hands or tweezers to pick up the fruit and flowers would end up being a big snack for my family 😂. We don’t waste things around here!

The cost of living has gone up…
families are stretched…
and getting out of the house with little ones shouldn’t feel like a luxury.

So we’ve been thinking about doing things a little differently.

We want to introduce smaller Little Monday playgroups 🌿

Less trays.
Less structured activities.
More nature.
More connection.
More time to simply be together.

A calm, welcoming space for sensory and messy play - without the overwhelm, without the big price tag. No lock ins.

Honestly… there’s nothing quite like this in the North, and we’d love to build something special together. This will be in addition to our bigger weekend pop ups! I’ll be bringing my little one too.

💡 MESSY PLAY ON A BUDGET SERIES: PART 1 💡

If you’re looking for an activity that’s almost free, super easy to set up, and keeps your toddler entertained for ages…this is your sign to try it 🙌

All you need:
• A container or mould filled with water
• Food dye & glitter (optional)
• Natural materials such as leaves, flowers, petals from your garden
• A jug or spray bottle with water (optional for extra fun!)

Pop everything together and freeze overnight ❄️

The next day, place your ice block outside or on a tray and let the exploring begin. Kids can smash, spray, pour and investigate while burning off all that toddler energy.

Toy hammers work perfectly for this (we stock the ones in the video + plain wooden ones too 😉).

My 3.5-year-old went back to this activity again and again and played for hours. Absolute 10/10 toddler entertainment for me!

✨ Tip: sunnies or safety glasses add an extra layer of safety (and kids love wearing them!).

Also that fly 🤣

When you really think about it as parents we control so much of our little one’s lives. If you’re like me we try and let our kids pick their outfits and give them some choice surrounding food but besides this it’s all pretty much out of their little hands.

This is one of the reasons why we do what we do. We love just letting little ones explore and do whatever their minds are telling them to do with the set ups. Instead of using the spray guns to spray the sheet, some run around and spray each-other (my son included) and it’s perfectly okay.

Instead of being told to be “careful” they are encouraged to make a mess.

This is the only video I took on the weekend. I enjoy chatting to everyone and watching them just be 😊 (although not the best from a business perspective for content but it doesn’t bother me).

My daughter had finished her meal (as can be seen by the stained high chair) and needed to be entertained while she was yelling at me while I was finishing my dinner.

Thank god for our left over play dough. It kept her little mind busy and was strengthening those hand muscles at the same time. Another great thing is that it’s all taste safe so she could have a nibble if she wanted, but it’d be very salty 😂.

This video isn’t very aesthetic but it’s real.
